Follow Your Dream, Day #282: Lauren Clarke

Those of you who watch our live streams on Dancelord TV (twitch.tv/lordofthedance) know that we have *a lot* of fun backstage at Lord of the Dance.

One of the newer elements we introduced to the channel is something we borrowed from the football world: PlayerCam. We hand over the camera pack and chat room to a member of the troupe, and for about half an hour prior to the final group warmup that precedes the start of the show, we let them take you wherever they feel like.

This is completely unplanned and unscripted. No two PlayerCams are alike. Mick McHugh might run around pranking people. Zoltan might take you through a workout. Erin-Kate could do a makeup tutorial. We have utterly no idea what will happen when we hand over the broadcast to a troupe member -- and that's what makes it so great to watch.

It also gives you a chance to get to know each performer on a deeper level, so that when you buy a ticket and see them dancing live onstage, you recognize each person and have an emotional connection to them. Team Lord has the best Irish dancers in the world, and they're just really great people to know as well.

The end result is that you get to interact directly with the performer, and you get a true insider look at the zany backstage life that goes with this show. Onstage, everything is polished precision; backstage, it's just a heck of a lot of FUN.

And, right now, the whole world could use a few laughs.

Thus, let Lauren Clarke, with her evil sidekick henchwoman Niamh Shevlin, take you on a backstage romp involving a bar of dark chocolate.
