Have you ever caught yourself going through old photo albums, wistfully smiling at memories you'd forgotten which suddenly rush back to the surface?
Think back to your most cherished memories. Loved ones. Friends. Adventure. Laughter. Achievement.
They are the moments when you *lived.*
Time is a currency measured in such moments, not in minutes. Some people live more in twenty years than others do in ninety. And for professional Irish dancers -- the ones who make it to the top, who earn the right to tour the world as part of Michael Flatley's billion-dollar #IrishDance show -- the one thing everyone loves is the shared *adventure* of it all: gallivanting around the world, playing to countless numbers of people, forging friendships that last a lifetime.
There are few things in life more enjoyable than committing to a purpose and achieving it. When you live in that moment, you are truly alive. And you can always look back on it fondly, knowing you were on a journey that most can only imagine.
In the last twenty-four years, literally thousands of dancers have, for varying lengths of time, been part of #LordOfTheDance. Planet Ireland is a tapestry of their stories woven together in images and videos. Michael Flatley created an entire genre -- the professional #IrishDance show -- and reinvented an obscure cultural folk dance in such an amazing way that there is still tremendous global demand for it a quarter of a century later, allowing countless dancers a chance to make a living professionally at something they love.
From the beginning in 1996 up to today, continuing through tomorrow past the visible horizon: the journey of a lifetime is here. Soon, before we know it, the doors of the venues will once again open, the lights shall dim, and the same timeless adventure will once again begin.
Planet Ireland arises: 2021.
