From all of us at Michael Flatley's #LordOfTheDance: we wish you a Happy New Year!
2020 was a year no one will ever forget -- a once-in-a-century pandemic saw to that -- but even in the face of such adversity, it was a year with several high notes for Team Lord, including tours of China, Mexico, Austria, Germany, and two trips to Taiwan, most notably the #FeetOfFlames Impossible Tour that just concluded a fortnight ago at the time of this writing.
It was also a year in which the social media overhaul of Team Lord which had begun in the summer of 2019 truly kicked into high gear. With nine months of inactivity due to the pandemic, demand for digital content was sky-high, and Lord of the Dance answered by providing multiple free livestreams every single week, along with compelling video series such as Dance For Hope (including a virtual reunion of the legendary 1996 OG Troupe), Tour Stories, From Rehearsal to Stage, and the Supercuts. Further, we've become the first #IrishDance show to livestream backstage on tour, giving you the ability to interact with us live *literally as the show is happening.* And by placing cameras on the dancers themselves, you can now for the first time see the action exactly as they see it.
Simply put: Lord of the Dance is at the forefront of the commercial #IrishDancing world, pointing the way for everyone else to follow.
What will next year bring? The planet is still in the grips of the pandemic, which makes timetables an interesting question, but 2021 is the 25th anniversary year of Lord of the Dance. And as the first Covid vaccines slowly start to be distributed, there is hope for a brighter future, with a tremendous amount of pent-up demand for live entertainment -- and Lord of the Dance ready with all sorts of interesting things to unveil.
Happy New Year to one and all.
