The image attached to today's production journal entry comes from Team Lord alum Owen Joe McAuley with a note: "This is from the Las Vegas troupe when we danced in the Venetian Hotel. Three-time World Cup winner and football legend Pelé came to see the show."
#LordOfTheDance has accrued many such stories in its twenty-five-year history; during the show's first run in Australia, Goldie Hawn visited the troupe backstage. During the first run of Dangerous Games at the Dominion, football superstar David Beckham paid a visit. And, of course, the most famous example is from 1997, when Team Lord performed onstage at the Oscars and was literally surrounded by the biggest movie stars on the planet.
Owen, who currently is a personal trainer as well as an instructor at Elbadri McAuley Baird Academy of Irish Dance, is one of many amazing alumni with a treasure trove of stories and pictures to share from his journey with Team Lord. As you've seen since the show's social media overhaul in 2019, we're actively encouraging the alumni to share their stories, their images, and their videos; Lord of the Dance, having grossed over one-billion dollars, is the flagship of the #IrishDance world, and those who become a part of it add their own unique voice to the saga.
