It seems strange to be writing what amounts to my first ever fan letter as I close in rapidly on my 70th birthday, but I'm inspired nevertheless. I was just researching guitarists and Youtube threw up an unannounced offer to watch the Riverdance finale. I've watched it hundreds of times (the DVD is in my home library), but I could not resist watching again.
I was reminded that - despite your impressive portfolio of superlative performances - Riverdance still grabs me by the gorbals and NEVER fails to set my heart racing. There was never a more exciting or spectacular entrance on any stage by any performer in any performance.
Even when you were on stage with the exquisite Jean Butler, I could not take my eyes from you.
Surely, there is no artistic passion so intense as that born of an Irish heart. Any time I want tears of joy in my eyes - watch Michael Flatley dance.
Many many thanks for sharing your talent, energy, dedication, passion, artistry.
